A.I. & Education

Artificial intelligence (A.I.) is something that I am always curious about because it's becoming a big part of our lives. While companies use A.I. for multiple reasons, such as for customer support, sales, resume screenings, etc., it can also be beneficial in the educational setting. It can provide personalized learning to students while giving the teachers opportunity to provide more valuable learning as well as providing classroom management. Using A.I. in classrooms can benefit both the teacher and the students because it can create presentations, assessments, and other interface that the student my encounter. Teachers can take advantage of this to create engaging learning activities while still tailoring

them to meet the needs of diverse learners. It will be able to allow the students to follow the teacher's instructions while adjusting the lesson depending on the students' engagement.

Of course, using A.I. doesn't always come with only advantages. Constantly using A.I. can lead to students lacking collaborative skills as it increases screen time and there are less human interactions involved. A.I. can also be used in the wrong way which can reduce critical thinking skills as students may be dependent on A.I.

When educators decide to use A.I. in the classroom, we need to be able to draw boundaries and balance it in the classroom for a healthy learning environment. One way is to make time to maintain human interaction and implement teacher-led A.I. activities. This way, A.I. won't replace instruction but can be a supplement to it. Being able to create a healthy balance between A.I. and the traditional classroom setting can set the limit to make sure that the use of A.I. is ethical.

Students using A.I. in their writing is inevitable but there are ways for teachers to promote authenticity in their assignments.

A.I. can be implemented anywhere as long as it is effective, which can help shape education.

A.I. can diminish long-term learning and retention. Although A.I. is growing, it cannot replace teachers as it does not have the emotional capabilities as a human would.

A.I. can be limited in the classroom. Teachers can model the use of A.I. while showing them that it still can be unreliable.
